Matt remarked, “It was awesome! I made a whirlwind trip out with my brother-in-law for the weekend. We took planes, trains, busses, ferries and the subway to end up in the world’s largest marathon along with more than 50,000 other runners.”
Matt completed the 26.2 mile course through Manhattan Island in a little over five hours. “There were all kinds of people, including veterans, amputees and others differently-abled – we all made it through tight security for a safe and fun event.”
Matt picked up running four years ago, and has since participated in 22 half-marathons in Nebraska, Georgia, Arizona, Oklahoma, Iowa and Kansas. “Five years ago if you’d have asked me I never would have said I wanted to run for fun – but now I love it,” said Bellamy. “I usually run about 4 days per week. I’ll run about 1,100 miles this year, and bike about 400.”
Matt has almost 30 years sales, building and design experience with agricultural, commercial and suburban-residential building projects. He began his career working for H&H Concrete Construction of Doniphan, Neb., which is an Astro builder-dealer. He began working for Astro Buildings 21 years ago, where he rose to the level of Sales Manager after serving as a Crew Foreman.
Astro Buildings erects customized, high-quality agricultural, commercial and residential post-frame “pole barns” and “pole buildings.” Established in 1969, Astro has developed a network of lumberyard-dealers and builder-subcontractors throughout the Heartland. Regional Sales Managers are responsible for recruiting and managing independent building dealers and crews throughout their assigned region. Matt serves western Nebraska and eastern Colorado.
“Astro has a close-knit, family-like atmosphere,” said Matt. “When you believe in your product, you can sell it with confidence. Ours is a good company with a good product. It’s easy to sell what you love.”
